Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media, public speaker and Canadian. She founded Feminist Frequency the site that features videos and comments analyzing the portrayals of females in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic with awards to show in her field, is an activist blogger. She is the founder as well as the executive director for Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit website that focuses on the role of women within popular culture narratives. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they appear in popular culture. Furthermore, she seeks to educate people about internet-based harassment targeting women, as well as other marginalized groups of individuals. Holding a master's degree in political and social thought from York University Sarkeesian is also popular as a public speaking engagement and has given talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Sarkeesian was fascinated by female issues as well as feminism from the age of a child. In 2009, when she was still studying at a university, Sarkeesian founded the site Feminist Frequency.
